Upgrades For Stock 2011 Ranger XLT 2wd

Thinking about putting a 3inch body lift and some 31s or 33s on my ranger. Thoughts?

Either 33s or 31s are going to require you to re-gear the rear axle (unless you want to double your 0-60 time) 4.11 gears for the 31s and 4.56s for the 33s.

Are you after "the look" or do you want to go trail riding?

What engine and trans? 4.10 was a standard gear in the 2wd automatic trucks that ran 27" tires. To maintain original power with 31s you'd want 4.56 gears and 4.88s with 33s.

With a manual and a 4.0 you can get away with less gearing. But an 2.3 auto will be a absolute dog to drive with 33 inch tires and stock gears.

I'm putting 4.56 gears in my 09 2.3 auto 2wd just from going from 27 to 29 inch tires.

This saddens me. Going for the look that was not intended for a truck is going to cost more money in the long run. Not only are you spending money on a lift kit, leveling kit, big tires, probably rims too, then you need a gear change or motor upgrade to offset the "look". When you could just level it out, throw on some clean wheels and tires close to stock size and not have to do SO many other things. Or you could get rid of that one and get one that was built to have the look. Either way, you will never get the mpg you're getting now.










I would put a cold air intake on it if i was you.
