Looking for a lot of help, I have a 97 Ranger 4 cyl. and just doesn't have enough guts, looking to see what it would take in changing over from 4 cyl to 6 cyl. Will transmission housing match or do I have to change housing also, any changes to motor mounts, etc. Anyone gone down this road before?

well, to further answer your question, we need to know what engine your planning on putting in, 2.8, 2.9, 3.0, 4.0? its not that difficult. the best would be to get a donor vehicle of the same year, with the engine and trans of choice, and just swap everything over.

for a trans, you will need to get another trans. reason, the 4 cylinder one wont hold for very long on a 6 cylinder.

i say get a donor vehicle because this will be the easiest route to go. everything you need will be right there. motors mounts, accesorys, drive shaft. trans, ect.
