Updating the 4-Cylinder Tech Page - Suggestions Needed

How about some info on the Duratec 2.3, that might prove useful to a lot of folks. Don't know if anyone has swapped a Dura into 2000 or earlier but that might be interesting as well. Just some thoughts, thanks!

a picture by picture walkthrough of troubleshooting the fuel system would really help for those who are voltmeter impared

any parts or repair info for both the lima and duratec engines would be helpful, along with performance mods, also anything performance thats smog legal for those of us unlucky enough to put up with californias draconiun smog laws

how about diagrams for sensors, sending units, vacume lines, also the locations of sensors, sending units on both lima and duratec engines.

FIX (unless this truck realy is that old!! :icon_twisted: ):

Pistons:

The 2.0 pistons are unique and don’t interchange.

The 2.3 pistons are all the same excluding the turbo versions which were forged. Low compression (8.0:1) in the 1983 - 1888’s and high compression (9.0:1) in the 1979 - 1981’s.

The 2.5 pistons are similar to the 2.3’s but have a different wrist pin height.

I think that any Modifications done to a vehicle is great however, should be posted on a different thread altogether as this is different than maintaining the original vehicle.

How about a Tech Library article with pictures about replacing the timing chain in a 2.3L mitsubishi with turbo?

How about a sticky about where to fund the more unually parts besides the junk yard? OEM? NOS? Independents?

Hi this is a suggestion for the duraspark conversion for a 2.8. alot of guys are doing the conversion with the motorcraft 2150 can you add the felpro spacer #60529 it is the same thickness as the stock spacer and fixes the vacuum leak that is there when you use the stock spacer. there is a notch on the stock spacer where the TPS was on the feedback carb and is easy to miss I know I beat my head on the fender one afternoon trying to figure it out and got lucky at the part store the guy brought it out by mistake and i snagged it with real good results.

How about conducting a poll as to when various large components were changed because of wear?

A question on the poll could read I replaced my timing belt on a 2.3L diesel Turbo at ____K miles.

Another I replaced my water pump at ___K miles.

A third I replaced my belts at ___K miles

and so forth.

Then the results could be tabulated and a tech article published for each year.

parts interchange ability on the lima engines,i see that question all the time:icon_cheers:

We have quite the 2.0L community, but not enough info and diagrams of the motors and trucks that have them

I think we could use a couple of troubleshooting guides for the most notorious problem areas Like :
1. Ignition system: coil pack check instructions and how to follow which codes.

2. Egr: system trouble shooting specs and checks.

3. Fuel system: TPS checks, fuel pressure specs... etc...

Just answers to the most common problems that are always coming up on the boards.

Many of the OBDI and OBDII scanners offer live streaming info from all the sensors. I would like to see a compilation of data for a healthy engine so I could compare to what my engine is doing. It would help in diagnosing minor performance glitches.

I know the bigger engines like the 2.3 and 2.5 engines are popular. I would like to know more about the 2.0 engine. like things that can be taken, off things that can be added, or interchanged. eventually I would like to do an engine swap but for now i have to keep the engine i have.

Just an idea
thanks
