Hello, Swapped a trans that was hard shifting from all gears. The new/used trans started doing exact same thing until I changed the VSS and idle air intake control valve. Now the trans is not shifting from 1st to 2nd until I let off gas pedal, it will run rpm up to 3-4k and I let off gas and it will shift into 2nd, and run through others gears. Also no hard shifting anymore.Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

sounds like the original trans was still good,
check the manual lever position switch, the voltage signal in each gear is different, also the connecter at the trans for pushed out /bent pins

Update

I disconnected the battery over night. This morning reconnected and drove it down the road, to begin with it went through the gears like it was new, however after about 5-10 min driving it begin to revert back to the same issues, along with od light flashing...

Have it scanned for trans codes. Sounds like a line pressure issue. Did you flush the cooler when you changed it? Also.. did uou re-use your converter?

Also. How many miles were on thd trans you picked up snd swapped.

Dirty or failing mass air flow sensor will give this symptom.

Will the maf make it throw o/d light?

Sure will. MAF plays a big roll in transmission pressure and shifting strategies. Lot of other components and their inputs affect the transmission. ABS is one that gets overlooked a lot.
Here is a list for the 4R/5R series of transmissions.

Awesome good to know. Ive rebuilt a few 5r55's with case saver and check valve upgrades. But never had drivability issues. Has the OP been back on his thread?
