I replaced the stock 16 pin connector on my 2003 Ford Ranger, Edge model, no amplifier due to a damaged clip on the original. I picked up the new 16 pin connector from a local audio shop and noted that one of the wires from the harness had no pin on the replacement connector. On the following diagram, the pin is listed as "F" and is red wth a black stripe.

The diagram states that this is not used but I cannot figure out why my radio would have it connected. The radio works properly without it connected (ACC, ignition, etc.) and apparently it is not needed, but I am still bothered by the fact that the wire was there in the first place. Does anybody know why disconnecting this wire would have no effect on the function of my radio? What was it used for in the first place? As a side note, I terminated the wire with a clip and secured it out of the way of the harness.
Regards,
Garry
