i have a little button switch on my floorboard right behind the emergency brake. its hidden in a little recessed corner so that it is not easily pressed unless you intentionally press it. i found it today when i was looking around after doing the accelerator cable mod. I have no idea what this switch does. anyone have any clues. I have a 2000 mazda b4000 troy lee edition.

Does it look "factory installed"?

There is an E-brake ON switch that is for the dash "brake light", but that shouyd be on the pedal

Could be a fuel pump cut off or EEC relay cut off, i.e. a cheap anti-theft device

Who is Troy Lee? Why does he get his own edition of something? Why have I never heard of him or his edition of the Ranger before? Why do I think that particular piece of information is irrelevant to your question? Why am I asking so many rhetorical questions?

It's probably the switch that turns on the brake light when you set the parking brake. Got pics?

sounds like some sort of anti theft device or some accesory some body installed....follow the wires and see where they go..... mine had a wire that was next to the fusebox not connected to anything, the other end went up behind the radio....turned out it went to nothing so I removed it.... also had 2 holes in the back wall of the cab behind the driver... not sure what those were for, but I put screws in them to seal up the cab.... you never know what kind of stuff the past owners did.... you have a pic of the switch??

It appears to be factory. I will post a pic later. During daylight. I thought it was a fuel gage reset switch but it didn't reset my fuel gage. I know my impala I had before this had one hidden just like it

If it was on the pass side I would say it was a fuel pump inertia switch.

BTW. The Troy Lee package looks badass. I would love to get my hands on a TL interior.

From Mazda's blurb page...
Troy Lee is a leading-edge graphic designer with a passion for extreme sports. His company, Troy Lee Designs(R) has created painted helmets, speed equipment, and other apparel for extreme-sports enthusiasts for over 17 years. His work is seen on more world-class motorsports and cycling competitors than all other helmet painters combined.I guess he's someone famous, but I've never heard of him either...

:icon_rofl:

Maybe it's an ejector seat for those unwanted passengers...does it have a sun roof?

If you've ever played the MX vs ATV series he's got all his stuff in there. I say, push the button, worse case scenario is your truck blows up.

It is for the brake light on the dash. When the e brake is off it presses down on the switch and turns off the light
