A buddy of mine gave me a venison bologna log (not salami like the title says) a while back. It was frozen and I have kept in my freezer. Just pulled it out the other day, and was curious........

Are these cooked or something, or do I need to cook it? Supposedly it has cheese in it, and came from the meat processor.

I can't tell and I want to eat all of it.

ive eatne uncooked salami and im still here.
if it has cheese u would like to put it on a grille for a while.

Well, normally bologna is cooked, but venison? I'd thaw it and cook it up.

How does one go about cooking this? I'm assuming in the oven?

the oven is a good idea.

ive cooked salami on the microwave when im making sandwiches :D

Is it already dark and in a sleeve? If it is... you don't have to cook it. It's already been smoked for several hours. Best thing to do is slice it up, get some crackers, sharp cheddar cheese squares and a  to wash it down with.

I love venison bologna and salami. I've even had it with bear. :D

My brother makes it whenever we make a kill.

I've helped my uncles make wild meat sausage and it is NOT cooked. It's fairly easy to tell; uncooked is squishy. Be safe and cook it regardless. On the bbq on fairly low heat for 1/2 hour. On the stove in skillet on med. high with 1/2" of water, cook with lid on till water disappears and then brown with lid off at med. low.
Enjoy,
Richard

I've even had it with bear. :D

Bear? :icon_rofl:
Just messing with ya.

The guy I got it from ended up dropping by my office today. He said it is cooked. So I have eaten almost half of it sitting here reading TRS. It is amazing.
