Napa has a U joint that crosses over to the spicer 5-760. It is solid, no grease fitting. Its also cheaper than the stock U joint.

Has anybody run these u joints?
Are they better than stock?
Are they as good as the spicer?
Thanks.

ive only heard horror stories about napa joints. ive had 2 fail in the past few months. one was probably (maybe?) my fault, the other was definitely not. the joints they sell now are japanese made, fyi

One more question.
Where are you guys picking up these spicer u joints?

kinda hard to find them in a regular autoparts store i am lucky cause the independent store i work for we actually carry them other wise internet is the easiest place and any u joint that dosent have a grease fitting is going to fail really quick

napa carries a range of brands of u-joints. all 8 u-joints on my truck are precision brand from napa (line code PUJ - "precision u-joint", which is made by federal-mogul) greasable joints...these are the ones ive towed up to 3,000lbs with on several occasions, and also abuse with my "spirited" driving. ive had no problems in the almost 30,000 miles since i put the first joint in.

The NAPA u joints are junk, I have to replace more of those with other supplier brands, when I'm replacing u joints at work. There has been times when putting the u joints in, they've broke. I can't remember what the brand is I like using, and I've found to have no problems with, but it comes in a yellow and black box and the black portion is a silhouette of a 4x4 on a dirt mount, I've seen to have good luck with them. I actually never order my own parts, even if its for me, I just tell the service writer (my boss), he orders them for me, and then I pay him for it, its run threw the shop and its super cheap for me.

hey shoeboy i got news for you those joints you are talking about are percision ujoints just their "tuffer" line

i just got precision ujoints for my front axles... seem pretty solid, parts plus for $20??? each. i think 2o?

well actually, the spicer 760 joint is pre-greased with no grease fittings but they dont seem to fail too often...

hmm...when I get the "NAPA" boxed joints, they always bust apart, but when I get them in that box, they seem to stay together. I had to do one today and the box had a "Made In Mexico" sticker on it (I remember that because I peeled it off and put it on the back of Paul's head), and NAPA is a last choice for us, they're even behind dealers. I know its not NAPA, as I hardly never see their gay little trucks driving around our shop.

precision is just one of many brands napa carries. any store that felt like carrying them could...almost nothing napa carries is exclusive to napa.

now that i think of it, i cant recall any instances of a precision joint failing when it shouldnt have...

who makes a cromoly u-joint this guy i was talking to said he put cromo shafts and u joints in his d44? was he pulling my leg?
