I have a 2 piece shaft in the rear of my ranger, and the center joint is held together with straps. apparently these straps have started to stretch because the caps are spinning and are even being able to move slightly side to side. i have thought about doing the u-bolt style straps but i dont think theres room for a nut on the back. what i really need is a strap kit like this but i dont know if that one fits my truck. im sure somebody knows what i need, help me out!

btw, murrays (csk) doesnt carry anything like that, autozone only has the u-bolt style, it doesnt look like napa has anything at all, i cant find em anywhere!

napa should have those straps ask to cross reff the part number 437-10 that a precision u joint #for the kit that shouuld work

thats this kit right? i dont want the u-bolt style, i want the strap with fasteners....

anybody? does the one i linked to on ebay even fit my truck?

key words you need to look at on this discription are "Image is a representation of this part. Actual part may vary." that pic is of the ubolt style but i just this very minute grabbed the box off my shelf and it is the correct "STRAP" kit

ahh... okay. ill stop at napa tomorrow then. do you think they will have it in stock?

they should its a common kit that covers quiet a few different u joints

no prob i get bored easily here at night our store is open till midnight:shok: mon thru friday so i like trying to look around on here alot

If your u-joint can move slightly side-to-side, check the little nubs that are supposed to center the caps before you install the straps. If they're worn badly, you need to replace the yoke.

Pretty much, if you get all done and have a driveline vibration and can't find anything else wrong, it's that yoke causing it. If you put it all back together and don't have a vibration, then the nubs aren't worn badly enough.

i thought about that too.... if i can just get it good enough till i can find a one piece driveshaft, ill be good...

edit: anybody got a source or p/n for that yoke?

shouldnt be i have used that same set just fine on my ranger when i had it

Would these be the same as what is used on the differential end of the front driveshaft on my '85? Mine are stretched too and nobody can seem to find replacements.
