I'm in need of a new clutch and I was looking online and the prices vary pretty well. I started to look into it and my Ford Ranger had a few different options. My Ranger is a 1990 2.3L 5 speed 4x4. Now it seems like there were quite a few options offered for the truck. All I'm wondering is what tranny I have and what clutch I'll need to replace it. Thank you.

Post a VIN number or use one of the VIN number look ups on line. It should say what trans was stock on your vehicle.

It will be the m5od.

On a side note, if its a later '90 built you'll be rewarded with a true dana 35 4.10 front axle :)

Yep, M5OD, several clutch options... I went with the Centerforce stock replacement friction disc and their weighted pressure plate, it's been a really nice combo but was over $300 for the two pieces if I remember right compared to the $130ish for the stock replacement Napa parts
