Two Issues: Driveshaft & Steering Stabilizer

So I am trying to do some work on the truck tonight, and I have run into two issues:

1. The damn driveshaft bolts are near impossible to get off! Heat, piss, a breaker bar... none of them will get some of the bolts of move. Any suggestions?

2. After getting too frustrated with teh bolts, I moved on to trying to install the steering stabilizer. Can anyone shoot me up some photos of how their's is mounted to the frame? Skyjacker gave me some 1.5" bolts, and said itll bolt right in. But by the looks of it, I will need something much longer, and will be drilling the frame. Also, mine is going to be at a wicked angle upwards. Any suggestions??

Thanks!:icon_cheers:

Soak the bolts with PB blaster and cal it a night and try tommrow

Is this the front or rear driveshaft. My rear DS bolts came right out. If I ever have something that doesn't come loose, I hit the ratchet with a rubber mallet or dead blow hammer.

Steering stabilizer, no clue.

Rear driveshaft. Two bolts on each flange came easily, the other two on each are just about impossible...

For your Driveshaft problem, I would have to say; move somewhere were they don't salt the roads :dntknw:...

Honestly though, I would say just spray the bolts with a bucnh of WD40, and let it sit overnight. If they don't want to budge in the morning either, then I'd either get a bigger wrench, or spray a bunch more WD on them and wait untill evening and try agian. Rusted bolts can be a real pain...

They dont seem to be rusty though, thats the thing I cant really understand. Theyre just.... tight. I think I will end up just getting a pipe to torque it off...

just took mine off a few minutes ago. 12MM closed end wrench and a 2lb brass hammer on the wrench. came off pretty quick.

x2, except i use the pipe over the wrench trick, or a double up wrench

Good thinkin on the hammer - I didnt try that. I wasnt able to find a pipe, but I did try the wrench-over, and that just plain old didnt work out very well.

I am thinking a mallet may do it.

If I need to, I'll lay on the floor and push on the wrench with my foot. Worked good enough to get 220 ft/lbs for something I was tightening a while ago...

Theres this stuff called aerokoil. Its an orange aerosol can. Its kind of like WD-40, but like a million times better. Its pretty expensive though, like ten bucks a can. It works though. Its tough to find, I know its illegal to sell in California. It may smell really good, but don't smell it too much, that stuff will screw your brain up. I use it on my boat a lot. Sometimes the gate valve on the turbo will sort of seize up and have a hard time spooling up. We'll spray that stuff on the linkage and she'll come right up like a champ. Just spray a bunch on the bolts and let it sit overnight. It'll work a lot better than WD-40, if you can find it. The stuff kicks ass, if you ever see it, get it. Aerokoil, the orange can...

Can't say ive ever used wd-40 on bolts. I use pb blaster.

i just recently found out what wd-40 stands for too. lol

Huh? Kroil isn't illegal in California. It's just a lubricant.... It works substantially better than PB Blaster, Liquid Wrench, and especially WD-40.

It does work wonders, EXCEPT it won't do anything about threadlocker (but a propane torch will).

If you can't find Kroil at the auto parts store, try a sporting goods store. The hunter folks seem to really like it.

The problem with leverage on an unlifted truck is that there is only so much room to the ground. It really is the solution, though.

Agreed, there is no way I can use any type of extension under my stock B2. I might be able to get the pipe over the end of the handle, but it wouldn't move enough to do any good.

I've done the foot trick too, all is well unless the wrench slips off.
