Twister 85 B2 Build

What a day from hell, nothing went right today.

Picked up a 2 ton lift from Harbor Freight, got it home to find no bolts for it. Called them and they said to bring it back and exchange it. Got the new one home, checked before i left to make sure there were bolts, there were. Got it home, started to put it together and my sisters fiance texts me and tells me he sold his lift to his friend :flipoff:. So i put together the one i bought, one of the bolt holes doesn't line up. So i forced it together. Then one of the bolts for the handle on the back is missing. Get it put together, says i need hydraulic fluid. I don't have any. Head down to parts store, autozone doesn't sell it and oreily only stock 2 jugs and they were out :annoyed:. So i finally got some, but was far too pissed off to do anything with it. I really really hate unproductive days :bawling:

I would take that sh!t back. I havent heard of any lifts that need fluid to be put in them, only assmebled.

My local farm store sells hydrolic fuild from a quart to a 55 gallon drum.

I guess I misspoke, it had some in it but it advised to top if off. Its harbor freight so I don't expect perfection.

Sent from, wait how did this get here?

At least its the small stuff, best to keep it that way and hope it stays that way.

Its never the small stuff for me, went to get in my other bronco and the battery was dead. I have absolutley the worst luck when it comes to my cars and the charging system. I just did the 3g although swap on it about 1 and a half months ago and I still have problems. I swear I should give up on cars lol

I hate elctrical on vehicles, wiring, etc.. hince why I went carbed, using an HEI dizzy and a painless wiring setup for my rad fan (actually came with it, was plug and play).

But then what would you do with all your free time? :icon_rofl:

Your asked about the slots got the mounts servile back do while i was under the hood today, took a picture if my passenger side. Remember my mounts are swapped, driver on passenger and so on. I did make my slots a bit wide and long so the engine sits lower, need a larger washer, but did it's job. Be sure to check the drain plug clearance to the TTB bracket on the cross member so that you can get it out.

Also where i have it positioned, the engine sits more forward. If i had put the slots further back, then it would sit back to where it is more ideal for rad clearance.

Thanks for the pic, when i put my engine in by itself one day it sat a lot farther back on the cross member compared to yours. When i measure and find the placement for the mounts, how far away from the firewall do i want to place it. I thought i read 85_Ranger4x4 said something like 1 1/2 to 2 in away from the firewall for maximum FEAD clearance, but i don't completely remember.

I put the engine and trans in together with the mounts on and marked then took them out and made the slots. I thought i had my engine back far enough but after i set it for the last time after making the slots, it was more forward. Best advice, measure twice, cut once.

I just spent about an hr catching up on this build. Looks good so far! Body lifts are fun for exposing crap you REALLY don't want to deal with, dont they? I had to cut most of mine out and I had to make a plate for one of the mounts on the frame. There was plenty on the frame but just enough for the bushing to fall through. I just cut a piece that resembles the inside of the frame mount.

Thanks, its been going slow

Well i tried making some progress but i didn't get far lol. The far rear hole on the engine lift plate doesn't seem like its going to work, but using one of the other two it doesn't seem like the lift will get high enough for the tranny to clear the radiator support.

Why don't you put the trans on with the engine installed?

That's one of the reasons i cut out my core support. The other reason was my rad.
