Twister 85 B2 Build

I think you have the plugs wired in the wrong direction. The rotor turns opposite direction of a V6. Counter clockwise.
What color wires are you hooking up to the pos/neg?

The amount if frustration is frustrating. Set it tdc again, put dizzy back and still only get backfiring, makes me wanna cry lol. I hope I didn't mess shit up with changing the timing set :(

pull the timing cover off and start over. reading the 3 or 4 pages from there to here you have some valve event issues or you simply do not know how to set tdc correctly. i have a hard time with you fawking the tdc set up this many times....so check the chain situation.

i would degree it as well if you have a wheel....i would be willing to let you borrow one.

then you will know exactly what you have.

start with a jumper harness right to the battery as well, then figure the key setup out.

313 402 5966. your faking something up or something is out of phase, cause this is not complicated at all.

this of course i was assuming he knew how the firing order is setup.

I did it the first time I set the timing on mine. Took me a day or two to figure it out. I finally hopped on line and saw a example of the direction the timing was supposed to be.

Yes I know the firing order goes counter clockwise. The green(negative) on the coil goes to the green wire on the duraspark harness, the red from the coil is spliced with with a large red/green stripe wire a d the small green wire going to the duraspark box, just like in the duraspark write, this is how it's been since I did the duraspark conversion.

why i suggest to pull the cover and study the valve events.

you have to make sure the timing marks are where the gear specs and cam card calls for on the compression stroke.

i go two full compression strokes and back it off and tighten it to the marks then check deflection on the slack side.

if you run clean simple power to the ignition box and coil with good tested wire it eliminates harness condition

Updates since the YouTube video of it running?

Do you think you could fit an hei dizzy on your engine with the explorer FEAD or not? My local jy has a mountaineer there with the 5.0 and im thinking of either taking the FEAD off it or just taking the whole engine, even though it has 233k on it, was going to go through and rebuild one anyways. I will however be taking the rear end from it. I do need to look up what it takes to switch things over.

I am not really sure, would need them side by side to see how much difference there is in height and the size of the vacuum advance.

I may be able to get you measurements and pictures of my setup to help. I'm looking to get an explorer engine and I want to use its FEAD and my hei dizzy.

Bump, it's been over a year, anything new [emoji14]

No, damn thing is plagued by electrical gremlins. Last time i messed with it, something caused the coil, dspark box and i am pretty sure the dizzy to fry. Its been a rough year so i have had no interest in poking at it.

Its a new year, new progress?
