twin stick

What's a twin stick?

It is a mod done to a gear-driven transfer case that allows independent shifting of gear range and 4x4 mode. So you could put your case in 2-wheel LO range for example. Or if you were sideways on a hill, you could put the rear in neutral and front in HI and "swing" yourself around.

It can't be done to the BW135X series cases found in RBVs because they're chain-driven.

You can swap a D300 into your Ranger.

You'd have to buy a flip kit.

Twin stick that thing and put some 4:1 gears in and you're good to go. Of course you could buy and Atlas for not much more.

umm... is a flip kit for pasenger to driver side drop?

do you mean twin sticks as in manual tranny and manual tcase or 2 sticks just for the tcase

twin stick

Transfer case.

One stick controls the front axle Hi-N-Lo, the other is for the rear axle Hi-N-Lo.

Good article powerwagon. He saved about $1000 this way. (I priced out a 2-speed Atlas on Advance Adapters, and it was $2400 with 4:1 gearing)

I assume you'd have to build an adapter plate to hook a 300 up to an RBV? The input on most 300s is 23-spline, so it will match up there, but I'm not sure about bolting it up.

well im thinking obout trying to use a bronco dana 20 wuts the out put spline on the 88 mazda 5 speed? i forgot to count when i had it apart. the 300 looks like more work. for now ill work on 35/44 convershion up front and a 8 3/4 in rear.
