I have my 88 ranger. And I just can't get enough lift for it. I'm trying to fit 35s and one of my buddies at work said "you're doing this to a 2wd truck." It kinda intruded me to wonder if ttb is a bolt in swap because I'm not mechanically inclined enough for a sas right now.
 
If you have a 2 wheel drive truck, It would be easier to do a leaf sas rather than swapping all the 4x4 stuff from another ranger. Fab work either way.

Or SAS in general, especially if you're looking for lift to fit 35's. But Leaf SAS's are easier.
 
Since you're lifted it will be (somewhat) easier. You need to fabricate the brackets that come off of the crossmember and locate the axles (beams) side to side. Also extended radius arms, or drop brackets for your current radius arms too.

You're on your own in terms of measurements. There was someone offering lift brackets for 4x4 hardware, with 2wd crossmembers but I don't remember who it was or if the project ever even got off the ground.

If you're not mechanically inclined enough for a leaf sprung SAS, fabbing up brackets to fit 4x4 ttb stuff to a 2wd frame is definitely beyond your abilities.

Though that's not really a good way to learn this stuff. I suggest doing a Dana 30 swap with leafs. Yeah 35's are a little on the big end for a D30, but if you're currently 2wd and don't do serious wheeling and keep the diff open it should be fine until you get more skills to put something bigger under there. D30's are fairly affordable compared to other axles and have a matching bolt pattern.

To swap a 4x4 axle OR a Bronco2 2wd or a 1991-94 2wd Explorer axle into yor truck requires the axle pivot brackets from a 4x4, the 4x4 axle pivot brackets in turn require a 4x4 engine crossmember.

Most importantly if you have the 4x4 engine crossmember you can use an
off the shelf 4x4 lift kit to get your truck as high as you want it

IF that is what floats your boat? Go for it

I did a crossmember swap to convert my 2wd 87 super cab to a 4x4,
because I wanted to use STOCK (read: easily replaceable at any auto parts or Junkyard) axle and steering components.


Why you ask? becuas "different" or "Custom" means that replacement parts are that much harder to come by when needed.
