Fix it till its broke!
Ok so my turn signals went out, hazards work fine. Changed the blue relay and still a no go, changed the multifunction switch and still not fixed. Can anyone give me any clues? ps 96 ranger 2wd standard 2.3

Also is there a separate flasher I can look for? Or maybe a relay between the multifunction switch and the turn signal/hazard relay? Fuses all check out btw, I've eliminated pretty much all the basic obvious stuff.

Also the other day I heard a faint ticking under the dash. Above the hazards/flasher relay. It was continous separate from that relay. It continued regardless of key on or off, hazards on or off. It stayed that way for a better part of the day till I replaced a busted starter it had and started it. I heard relays can chatter on low battery but as far as I know it is new and was charged since the damn starter went out earlier that same day.

I tried jumping the harness where the multifunction switch pins for the directionals are, but it did nothing. I stuck a test probe in there too and I got no power at the harness but I do at the fuse. Also tested the relay with the probe and I only get power on the hazard pin and what looks to be constant hot. The other 3 or 4 pins do nothing.

Is there a relay or ground under the dash I should inspect besides the blue relay and the fuse panel? I have alldata but I can't seem to find a another relay/flasher/or fuse in line besides those mentioned above.

Sorry for the long post just trying to provide the most info possible.

Ps when I said hazards work I mean all 4 light up and flash, and the relay clicks accordingly. The replacement one did the same so I returned it and have the original one still since that wasn't likely the problem.

Thanks anyways got it figured out...

so I take it you found the other flasher relay.

NO on my model year it is just one flasher for hazards AND turn signals a big blue one. It was a loose wire behind the fusebox.

how did you manage to get a loose wire there?
