Turn Signal probs

My signal flashers in my 98 ranger stopped working. The lamps all turn on, no burnt out bulbs, but they don't flash. I checked fuse 10 in the cab, doesn't seem to be blown. This has, however, been an intermittent problem for a while, so I suspect some wiring. Has anyone else had this issue, and know where to start looking?

And dash light turn signals also come on?

What about 4-way flashers do they work?

Flasher should be located on in the Cab Fuse panel, often the turn signal flasher is on the front and 4-way on the back side

The multi-function switch, turn signal stalk, would be working if the lights do come on, so most likely problem would be the flasher unit has failed.

Had this problem a couple years ago. The flasher switch on top of the steering column was just all gummed up due to lack of use. I just kept messing with it until it loosened up and started working again.

Could also be the 4-way flasher. If I remember correctly, it has it's own flasher...separate from the turn signal flasher. I think it was located down on the steering column.

All the lights work, the dash lights, the lamps, they just come on solid and don't flash. Same with the 4 way flashers, the lights come on but don't flash. I agree that it could be the flasher unit, I'm hoping that it's a part I can replace. If it's bad wiring, I don't feel qualified to mess with that. :/ If the 4 way flasher has its own unit from the signals, what would cause them to both fail simultaneously?

I have a diagram for 1999 Ranger and it uses just the one flasher for turn and 4-way.

On a 1998 Ranger the Flasher should be on passenger side of steering column(above gas pedal), under the dash in a box with a Black Plastic cover, there are some fuses and relays in there.
The Flasher should be the Blue one

does it matter which turn signal you try. does both stay solid when hitting left or right.

check your grounds. and maybe go around and tap on each lense to see if it starts to blink. my 86 b2 has a issue with a bulb where it wont work unless i hit the turn lense. im just to lazy right now to fix it.

This may sound crazy, but if you have a tilt column in your truck go through the adjustment range (up/down) and try the signal switch in while in the different positions. I had an issue on my truck where over time the wiring going to the connector-block into the multi-function switch would de-pin themselves from the movement. Once I popped the column cover off I discovered my driver's side signal's line to the multi-function switch had come loose, pushed it back in and glued it in place, haven't had an issue since.
