I just got a 2001 Ranger, has anyone had a problem with the turn signal switch? when i put my brights on, the headlights shut off, and the wipers only work on high. anyone have an idea?? thanks

possibly loose connection on the back of the switch but more than likely the switch do the emergency flashers work.

More than likely a bad switch but it's also common for the tabs that lock the wires into the connector to break and let the terminals pull out of the connector body.

well i got to looking at it today and turns out the brights were just a blown fuse.. so now the only thing that doesnt work with the switch is the wipers. they work on high and that is it. so im thinking maybe it isnt the switch..?

i swapped the switch with one out of a mustang. it has the same plug in for the wipers, just not the turn signals.... either way, i still have the same problem

Well, that's exactly what mine is doing too, 92 Explorer multifunction switch, turns/heads/wipers/washer. Everything else works on the switch but no intermittant or low speed wipers. I had planned on pulling the switch apart as it's one of those couple hundred dollar parts new and I'm a cheap ass mofo. So you swapped the switch to find the same problem hey? Shitty. I had my wiper motor die a while back and swapped in another, so I know the motor isn't the problem either.

Not sure about yours but mine also has no return function, I turn the switch to low speed from high and the wipers stop where ever they were.

Anyone have some ideas what could be the fault?

Swapped the relays around and it turned out the relay was bad (the one closest to the fender (45 A&B)) Swapped in another relay i had laying around and it works like it should!!
