has anyone had or is having a problem like this , I installed a 88 t-bird tc motor trans and pcm in my 93 3.0 auto ranger and i am having a strange problem under boost, what happens is @ 8- 10 psi in any gear at any speed starts to flutter and bog ( sort of like a jake brake) I have checked fuel press when this happens and it seems fine engine ran with no problems in tc ( I had it on the road for 3 years with no such problem, any suggestions appreciated.:icon_welder:

Are u using the stock intercooler? If so, check the little boot between the turbo inlet and the intercooler....... If the clamps aren't tight, the boot will try and pull off of either end, causing a leak, and no boost!!! Happened to me, and thanks to the guys here, they pionted me in the right direction and fixed it that afternoon!!!!

No luck

Thanks for the input, I did check the connections at intercooler and all from turbo to head(intake side )and checked for vacuum leaks and all looks ok ,I also triple checked timing ,firing order , installed new plugs cap rotor and wires , swapped vaf sensor , try to run w/o knock sensor all with no improvement, only problem I see that looks obvios is oil drip from exhaust side of turbo/ but not using oil excessively, Im getting very discouraged and almost ready to start buying piggyback system and start throwing money at it !!:annoyed:

What is your Air/Fuel ratio when it bogs down?

Is your intake oily?

To everyone else: I'm not too keen on understanding the computer dynamics that came in these cars, but would a M/T computer with an A/T and vice-versa cause issues?

Turbo help

I,M not sure what A/F ratio is because 88 pcm doesnt support live data.

small amount of oil in intake track, but I also know that turbo seals not in great shape , I plan on rebuilding turbo soon.

I suggest getting a wideband hego

It's difficult to troublehshoot a problem like this when you dont know if you are running Rich or Lean.

When the motor bogs down, it's either because it's not getting enough fuel or it's getting too much. (It could be other things as well, like spark blowout, timing too far retarded, but those aren't too likely at 10psi)

Any black smoke from the tailpipe when it's bogging? What was the fuel pressure at?

Not really smoking (other than a touch of oil ) pulled plugs and are clean with no evidence of oil fouling I think wideband O2 might be next step -- any suggsuestions on what type to get?:headbang:

double check all your all the hose conections that see boost and vacuum lines, mine did the exact same thing. it turned out i had blown the vacuum distribution piece on my intake up just enough for boost to escape at about 8-10 pounds pushed it back down and problem fixed ive heard of quite a few peiple having problems with just the smallest little leak

Hmm... I can't help you when you're having problems under boost. My '86 turbo motor bogged down (trailer hitching) but only after letting off of the boost.

My only guess with my problem was that my turbo has been leaking oil into the compressor side whenever there's a sudden vacuum on the intake... It never did it under any other circumstances.

Sorry that I can't offer any other ideas to help.

new devlopment to problem --- my truck lost 2 cylinders 3/4 , checked and had no injector ground to 3/4 injectors, no ground pulse coming from pcm, computer is 3 mos old napa reman unit, ordered another replacement will be here on friday mabye boost problem related
