I was hoping to get some ideas as to how to hook up the fuel rail to my 88TurboCoupe 2.3T. I've got everything else hooked up, I just cant decide which would be best route to go.

I've got a '93 Ranger, TC engine, original Ranger harness, with pins swapped and plugs switched out. Wiring is complete.

From what I've read, I'm just supposed to swap the injectors into the stock Ranger fuel rail, but the Ranger fuel rail won't bolt to the Turbo Coupe intake.

The Turbo Coupe fuel rail requires different connectors on the rubber line to the rail.

I was thinking I can modfy the ranger fuel rail to fit, or simply cut and hose clamp some rubber fuel line from the metal line on the frame, up to the Turbo Coupe fuel rail.

Anyone have a better idea? Please? haha

Anyone have a better idea?

on other swaps i have taken the steel lines, cut them cleanly and had the correct end tig welded to the intake manifold.

make a hold down bracket.

I got 6' of 3/8" high pressure fuel line and 6' of 5/16" high pressure fuel line, pushed the hose over the bump for the quick release fitting and put a hose clamp (#2 is the right size) on each side of the bump on both supply and return, 2 years in and no leaks... on my '89 chassis there were connectors for both the supply and return at the fuel filter so I spliced them on there.

You need the fuel rail from the original turbo motor. The fuel injectors arranged in a fan pattern, whereas the ranger fuel injectors are all parallel with each other.

A fuel rail from an '87-88 turbo coupe will align up perfectly with the ranger fuel lines.

I have the fuel rail. The problem is the ranger has different fuel lines, and wont connect to the Turbo fuel rail.

This is what I was thinking. I just didn't know if there was some magic year that had a different rail/connectors. Thanks Scott.

Well, I'm confused...

Could you post a pic of the fuel rail for the turbo motor? I have an '86 turbo motor, and an '87 motor. They're different, but I still managed to hook them both up to my ranger's fuel lines without problems.

I think there's something that I don't quite understand that's keeping me from being productive....

the '86 turbo coupe rail and the stock fuel lines from my '90 were opposite gender if I remember right, it was something very different... it was just over 2 years ago so I don't remember exactly, and don't have either side anymore

The TurboCoupe (Merkur & SVO) fuel rail has this connector...

The 93 ranger uses that same connector at the fuel filter and fuel pump, but the fuel rail uses the newer Ford fuel connector...as shown below.

Well, then you have a fuel rail from an '86 or older turbo coupe.

The '87-88 turbo coupe fuel rail WILL hook up DIRECTLY with the fuel lines in the ranger without problem.

The rail from the '86 and older has the fuel line connectors pointing at the driver's side hood latch and uses the duck bill clip connector you have listed first. The '87-88 fuel rail has the fuel connectors pointing at the oil filter and have that lower connector's female counterpart on it.

I need to add onto what I last said.

When I had the '86 rail in my '94 ranger, I took 3-4' sections of high pressure fuel line (don't remember the size, but it was good stuff from "Ace Hardware") and hose clamped it onto the fuel filter and then the fuel rail. Same thing (but with different size hose) on the return line. It might look goofy, but it will work and it'll only cost you about $10 in supplies.

Also, would you like some pictures of BOTH of my engine's fuel rails? I have both types, so I can show you pics of each.

No pics needed. I went out and bought the 2 sections of high pressure fuel line, I'm going to install this weekend. I got 2 6' sections (just in case) and 8 hose clamps for $20. Should be running by Sunday. Thanks guys. +scott +jughead

Cool, you're set now. Let us know how it runs when you get it all together!

I got the fuel hooked up, got EVERYTHING together, but when I went to put the serpentine belt on...the tensioner pulley snapped. Apparently I did it wrong...

I was under the impression that you simply put a 3/8' ratchet in the square hole, and push down towards the passenger side...(counter clockwise)

Mine simply snapped. Did I skip a step?

And also, to replace it, do I just loosen the special torx bolt? Anything else I need to know? Thanks
