alright, i want a tube bumper cause im sick of the stock one gather mud like crazy. started by getting measurements, then sketched out a few designs. settled on one, then started transferring it to google skethcup.

heres the progress so far. main piece done, 2" tubing, still have another tube of 1.5" going farther in, it will be between the side panels under the tailgate.

these pics show what will be farther out from the tailgate area. act as a step like the current stock bumper.

rear angled view (this part faces out away from the back of the truck)

thoughts so far?! I may make the bottom piece go down a little further yet, havent decided yet!

btw this is going on a 2006 FX4 level II

no thoughts?

good cause I wasnt really liking the direction that one was going, so i started over and came up with this so far. no it wont be blue, just shows the shadows and stuff better on screen haha

some poeple may say "oh, just a computer version"

well, thats how my mind works, i couldn't for the life of me draw it out on paper and get dimensions, i work much better with a computer, so instead of doing it on paper and cardboard, ill be doing it on the computer first. just the way my mind works.

much happier with the lok of this one, thoughts?

Is this a rear bumper? And what program are you using?

the pics wont show up for me right now, but i'll check it out once i get home

why would you not make the outside tube connect at the ends?

that smaller bar will sit directly under the tailgate, the larger outside bar will be about flush with the bed sides. so to make the smaller one fit directly under the tailgate, it has to be inside the bedsides. hard to explain, ill see if i can find a picture.

still have to add the bottom bar, then mounting points

edit, heres a picture

the smaller inside bar will sit inside, there will be about a 1/4" space between the ends and the bedsides.
the outer bar bent parts will fit almost touching the bedside material directly under the taillights.

thats if my measurements are right :P

oh and i guess ishould mention it will be getting a tiregate tailgate, and the bedsides will be cut like so

going for a prerunner look.
eventually will get fiberglass, chevy 64" swap, front end LT if BRT finishes their kit since dixon went under

I like the blue one over the black, and diffenetlly would connect the ends. It would make it look like a factory deal, not a homegrown piece together. Good work though, I will try and see if i have a picture of mine and put it on here, might give you some ideas.

The more i look at it I think coming up from the bottom rail to the thick rail then straight to the thick rail from the top skinny rail. You know close it all up. IMO.

this is exactly what i envisioned when i started. im happy with how it came out.

the big tube with bent ends wont be an issues with trees, as it wont stick out farther than the body. it will be even with it, so i wont have any problems there

I started my front bumper the same way man. I drafted it up on paper, then using Pro E software. Then fabbed it, il try to post a pic but it doesnt always work.

the ends cant be connected....there will be body panel in the way.

when you look at this when installed from the side, you will not see the top inner bar.
i dont know how else to explain it.

see how the stock bumper is recessed under the tailgate? thats where that top inner tube will be, the outer tube will sit out farther than that. maybe its just bad angles in the pictures i posted that dont show it well.
