hey all,
I,ve got a 92 Ranger 4x4 with the 4.0L and 5spd, my question is I am trying to find some sort of ram/short ram air intake system for the truck. I have been told to just make one myself, which leads to another question. What about the Mass Airflow Sensor?
Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks for your time.

Welcome to the Station! You can make a ram air intake yourself, just be sure to cut a slot for the MAF and then once you get it in make sure you seal up any gaps around it. You might just be better off buying a ram air intake kit if you don't feel too confident with your skills though. Glad to have you with us!

would you know right off of any companys or sites that make a bolt on ram air? i have tried K&N and nothing.
Thanks for the help though much appreciated

it doesn't change much for the 4.0, but if you're dead set on it- go for it.

the reason behind doing this is, being tired of always fixing the intake tube connected behind the grill, constant problem of breaking and falling off. i did find some extremely helpful infor in the tech pages.
thanks for the help

Try aFe, AEM, Jegs, Summit Racing, or use LMC Truck. They all should have quite the selection of good intakes. Just be sure you get one that doesn't use an oiled filter, it should be a dry flow filter. The oil you use on an oiled filter has been known to clog the MAF sensors and screw with their readings.

thanks for the help. I didn't even think about that portion of it. one other question i do have is the breather tube that runs into the lower unit of the stock air box? what is the best way to go about handling that, just a breather filter or do i need to re-work plumbing into somewhere else
thanks,

Semper FI

Some intake kits will have a nipple for attaching the breather tube, others won't. If you get one with the nipple just slip the breather tube on. If it doesn't just put a breather filter on it.

Awesome thanks again...! Definately have answered a lot of major questions for me.
