Trying to find a carb kit for an odd carb

My buddy has an '83 or '84 ranger with a 4 banger and I'm guessing it's the 2.0. The 1bbl carburetor needs rebuilt but the only kit we can find is about $130. He was told the carburetor was made in Turkey. Can I use a kit made for a carb with part # E37E?
