Trying to convert a 89 ford ranger from power steering to manual.

Hello, everyone. I just found out today that the manual pitman arm for a 89 Ford ranger is no longer produced. I have a 89 ford ranger drag race truck, with 3in drop beam in the front. The truck is a 6ft regular cab 89 2wd ford ranger. The truck originally came with power steering, but being this is a drag race truck, I want the lighter manual steering.

Come on guys, there has to been someone that's done a ranger drag/race truck without the mustang coil over frontend?

I had no idea they were different than a P/S pitman arm. So I am guessing a P/S pitman won't work?

Nope. Splines are different.

I changed my 88 from power to manual...didn't change the pitman arm...but maybe 88 and 89 are different...everything was snug and seemed to bolt right on...

Hmmm...maybe that's why my steering is now off by about 15*...but everthing seemed to fit just right...maybe look at the earlier models for parts...

multiranger, PM if you want to sell the gearbox/pitman arm.

Going to search the local wreckers. Anybody tried to put a F150 gearbox/pitman arm on a ranger?

The P/S gearboxes are the same up to the F-350 (IIRC). I don't know about the manual gearboxes. There's another thread on here where 4x4Junkie posted something pretty recently. The manual steering pitman arms lack the alignment keys/splines the P/S arms have.
