Truckspotters

How old is it? In Georgia you can buy a truck/car and register it on a bill of sale if it’s 25 years old or older

Wouldn't you need a valid VIN for that?

Yes, Has to be otherwise legal, and they do a Vin search to make sure it’s not stolen

That's what I was getting at, even if the truck isn't stolen or whatever it undoubtedly has no VIN number since it's not "real".. how can you register something with no VIN? :dunno:

That's the problem, that truck has no VIN. It's concept truck thrown together by Ford that was never meant to be driven, used, sold, or owned by anyone but Ford. it was supposed to be crushed.

I'd be very surprised if someone from Ford wasn't there.

I wonder what they will think if they see it.

Oh I'm sure they've sent the lawyers... the identity of the guy who "owns" it has never been a secret though so if they had a strong legal claim you'd think they would have acted by now. :dunno:

I know of another “experimental“ concept car that got away from the manufacturer. This was in like the 60s. Went all that brands car Vin numbers were about 13 digits, the “on “Vin number“ was 44EX. It was that companies 44th concept car and X for experimental. It was a British car that was found in a barn in north Georgia in the 90s, and the state let him register it as “44X” the parent company was out of business. He dug up the 44EX on some paperwork found in the car that had to do with its manufacturing and that was sufficient for Georgia

I thought the "sea splash" truck was stolen from ford or something like that and they have been trying to get it back because it was never meant to be released. :dunno:

Edit - just noticed @Uncle Gump beat me to it.

I still wonder if it has any kind of legitimate title or any way a buyer could make it legal to even register/drive considering it's ownership is questionable and it technically was never even produced.
🤷🏿‍♂️ The guy that was sitting there said it was his friend's. He was a very pleasant gentleman 🙄 the yellow sign said it was sold in the 90's for 1 dollar by FoMoCo. Never got to talk to the guy.

Chassis builder could get one. My friend does that for hotrods. Maybe its different for a promo or proto. But in all reality you could get it done with a reconstructed title to my understanding l.

I forgot to mention it had no motor in the engine bay. Not sure why..... I dont even know if it had a trans but it looked like it would have been an auto from the in window shot.

Huh. I walked right past the truck and had no idea that was it. Crazy

It's possible it never had one. Why put a motor in a truck that was basically just made for a photoshoot. :dunno:

Easier to move it around under it's own power.
