Trucks

Johnboy, has the cooling been an issue for you at all???

I have not gotten to the point of actually driving it yet, don't anticipate any cooling problems though.

Glad I got mine when I did, these might be hard to get after the show airs.

Haha, nice! You'll need to move your brake booster over an inch or two and you might need to grind a little on your driver side coil cover too. Oh yeah, the exhaust is going to be really tight as well. Ask me how I know.

Like KT said, we have been here (him more than me) checking out different builds and getting ideas. You guys have a cool site here with lots of good info, thanks.

Let us know if you have any questions about the build. If we can, we'll answer them.

Welcome to the forum Ryan.

Anyway, Copperhead sits on the Gearz set a lot, as well as the big army looking green truck (not sure of the name). Das Bronco was on a couple times too. I remember him saying once that, a lot of times, once the build is done they cannot be sold due to insurance purposes and hence are either decoration or sent to the crusher.

Vito

Das Bronco {black, white & gray} another of my favorite builds, was built by Kevin and Ryan, thinks you are refering to Ted Nugents Bronco {Black & white Zebra pattern}, that Stacey did rust repair on; and the Army Truck I think you are refering to is Sergeant Rock . The ones seen on Gearz I'm pretty sure are actually owned by Stacey David. Didn't he also mention about not doing trucks for sponsors due to similar reasons, becasue he didnt want to see his work destroyed, which I dont blame him for.

Back to the 4V Madza, I'm lookin forward to see how Kevin and Ryan sets up the rear suspension, and how they keep the 4V cool. Not to mention the 10-15 pounds of boost they are planning to run. All I know is its gonna be insane fast, and the cool factor will be off the scale.

Everything Im seeing about the 4V 4.6L mod swap is makeing me start to lean towards a more modern 4.6L mod swap over a more period correct 5.0L pushrod swap, seeing my truck is almost a decade older than the Madza being used on Trucks, makeing my decision a bit harder.

Like Jim said Welcome.
Would useing a brake booster from a New Edge Mustang 99-04, work in place of moveing the stock boooster, which I'm guessing obviously works too. Read it before about thoose who have swaped the New Edge boosters into the Fox Body Mustangs for clearance issues in 4.6L and 5.4L Mod motor swaps. Don't even know if they would work in a Ranger, or give the needed clearance. I looked at the one in my 99 Mustang and its definitely a different and more compact design. Have to dig through my magazines to see if i can find the artictle on it.

That's actually an old pic from last year. Mine should be moving hopefully in the next few weeks.

I didn't have to move the brake booster over nor have to shave some of the coil cover. I kept the engine mounted the same way the 4cyl. was which is 1" offset to the passenger side. Greg who did his swap a few years back used this method and I followed that same path.

And yes the exhaust is a royal PITA:headbang:, I've been working on the driver's header for some time now.

BTW welcome aboard

Jim, have you sent them Stickers yet? I think they need a Giant TRS Banner LOL

And I'm thinking some Mustang wheels would look Really good on the Mazda!! but then again I'm Bias!

Well, that is how hotrodding started. Before there was aftermarket, guys would grab parts off of performance vehicles and adapt it to their own. A modern V8 and some mustang wheels fit that bill!

nothing wrong with doing a mazda i always wanted a ranger but the mazda came at a better price. cant wait to see the final project i will have to set my alarm and wake up before the show comes on (dont give me a hard time about waking up at noon im in college and i have night classes)

Ryan, any ideas for wheels & paint on this truck?

I've always like some of the three-spoke Mustang wheels, and the truck might look good in one of the more oddball stock Ranger colors, like the eggplant color on my '94. Check, you could even call it Project: Flying Eggplant.

Hey guys the episode with the mention in it is on iTunes for 2 bucks. It's called "a look back, a look ahead" It's in the unmarked (no year) season under tv shows. I'm downloading it now because I can't seem to find it on the Trucks site.

id say for the wheels it would be cool to see some chrome murauder wheels on it but thats just my .02 :icon_hornsup:

I am actually fairly surprised you guys went with a 4.6L instead of the Explorer 5.0L. Looking forward to more info on the Mazda.

I would say they went with it because its new and different and starting to get kind of popular. 5.0l in ranger has been done over and over it would be like seeing a repeat of the 350 s-10 project.
