Truck rolls a little before locking in Park

I'm not very knowledgeable about transmissions, but when I stop and put it in park, it rolls a few inches before it seems to lock in place. I've never had an automatic do that before, so I know it is not quite right.

Could this be something easy to adjust?

Every vehicle with an auto trans I have ever had does that. You only really notice it if you're parking on an incline/decline. My Ranger has done that from the get-go, and I bought it with 14K miles on it. Use your parking brake!

They all do that. It's because the parking thingy inside the transmission has to drop into a slot in the thing that goes round and usually it's not in line when you stop so the truck has to move a little so that the thingy can drop into the dooflobwhatsit. Hope that explains everything and is not too technical.

Not to mention the springs have some play in them also.
