So today my 87' ranger won't fire. It's done this before when the temp was in the single digits but it started the next day. I thought it might have had some bad gas and ran some dry gas in it and no issues.
Now it doesn't seem to be getting fuel. I shoot some starting fluid in the throttle body and it will try to start (it gives me a fart of a start).
My gas tank is new along with the in tank pump. I've checked the fuel rail and it's squirting fuel so it's getting fuel in the rail. Any ideas?

have you checked the In line fuel pump? the tank might be putting it in the line but if the in line pump is bad no gas will get to the injectors.

^ Like he said.

One time I had the problem of mine not starting in the cold. I noticed that I did not hear the secondary pump (just below your feet on the driver side along the rail) running. I smacked the pump with a screw driver and it came to life. So..Who knows, give that a shot!

Otherwise:
With the gas, Check with a gauge if you can. It should be 40psi key on, engine off (of course in your case...)

If that checks out OK, I assume you have checked for spark? If no spark is present, there can be a few reasons why.

Does it help to depress the gas while starting? Just wondering about the IAC. If that's closed or unplugged, you may have to hold the gas to start.

I'm not too sure about the cold weather being an issue though. Your truck is an 87 like mine and I don't know what would cause that. Maybe the Air Charge sensor (density of cold air???). That will not keep it from starting though.....

That's kind of the basics of what might keep that motor from running...Let us know what you find!

Thanks guys,
I haven't checked the in line pump but thought I'd start with the easy stuff first. I don't have a fuel pressure gauge.
The day before it died, I had filled the tank and wondered if the gas I bought had stirred up some dirt that might have clogged the fuel filter. I figured it won't hurt even if the filter wasn't the issue. Last night I replaced the fuel filter and had no luck and after cranking it over for three days straight, ran the battery down.
By the way, the filter is in such a nice location to get to....
Thursday it's going into the shop if I can't sort it out tomorrow night. I need it running since the ranger is my daily driver (besides, the wife is not happy about running me to work and back everyday).
7.5L-STX, I screwed the thread title up pretty good didn't I. It was very late at night and a long day when I wrote the post. Give me a "F" on the english test for that one.

Got the news on the truck yesterday, the computer died.
Thanks for all your suggestion.
