it runs for a minute then dies, i pulled off the coil wire from the coil and set it a little ways from it to see if i have spark, i turn it over, it sparks once then stops, turn the key off then turn it over again and then it has a good spark. i've replaced the ICM , the coil, plug wires, cap, and rotor still cant figure it out. any ideas? could the EEC relay cause it to die randomly like this?

Might be bad pick-up coil under/inside the distributor. I'd also check the relays.

simplest check is to make sure all your grounds & connections are good.

ok, i hooked up a code reader to it today, it tested all the relays and said they were good the only thing it said was that there is an open circuit in the fuel pump relay, i cleared it and ran the test again and it said it was all good. i guess it has to be the pick-up. any more suggestions?

the eec tests do not test the relays. if you are getting a code 95 the wiring could be screwed up or the relay to the pumps could be bad, but since you are getting no spark you should test the pickup coil in the distributor as well as the tfi. Test the EEC relay as well, it could be making intermittent contact.

I have the same problem. In my case the connection between the EEC relay and the Power Distribution Panel is iffy. Since the PDP is hardwired to the harness, this is not a trivial issue. I am planning on hardwiring an EEC relay to the harness, bypassing the PDP to see if that fixes it. Half the morning shot. Hope you do better.
