so I warmed my truck up one afternoon and then pulled it up to the door of my shop. . .when i let off the clutch to leave it died.
I tried to start it and it wouldnt start again.

here are the symtoms. . . .

great battery power
starter turns engine very well
engine has spark on all cylinders
all fuses good
etc.

the thing that makes me wonder is that this happened about 1.5 miles after i got a new tank of gas (mid grade).

I thought it was bad gas so i changed the fuel filter and drained the line to the engine. . .

I tried to power the fuel pump on and it wont cycle on (or its dead.) The relay seems okay (i swapped it with the foglights which work fine) and i have voltage at the fuse.

Is there a switch that cuts off the fuel pump? An inertia switch?
Also, can i check voltage to the pump closer to it without dropping the tank that would be a pain since it is in my driveway now.

anyhelp would be awesome

Thanks
A1C Willis

canyou hear the pump turn on when you turn the key to the run position? The inertia switch is located on the right side of the trans tunnle, kinda on the floor, near the firewall/floor pan seam

If you wanna check voltage at the pump or replace it, its way easer to take the bed off, Spray the 6 bed bolts down w/ PB Blaster, Remove the tail gate, Remove the 3 bolts for the filler neck, unplug the Tail light harness between the bumper and spare, then remove the 6 bed bolts w/ a T-50 or T-55 Torx bit. Then get a buddy to help you lift the bed up, then the pump is right there.

it would help to know the year. the inertia switch is on the passenger firewall under the dash. also i had a similar problem with the electronics there was a pig tail associated on the fusebox .

sorry i was covered in gas and grease when i typed that, kind of in a hurry.

Its an 03 edge 4x2 single cab 3.0V6

I fixed the problems and got it running again last night, WHOO!

They were. . .
Clogged Fuel filter (Wrong part number, dont you love previous owners?)
Burnt out Relay (I thought it was good but it wasnt)
and last but not least the inertia switch.

You should have seen the junk come out of that filter when i got it off. . . holy cow.

So i primed the fuel lines again and got her running. Went over to the base gas station (high volume of traffic. .. better gas) and filled the rest of the tank with premium.

Then went on a little drive. I'm gonna give her the sea foam tonight to make sure igot all the gunk out. (intake manifold, and gas tank)

Thanks for the help!

how does carbon get into the oil from the combustion chamber?
