will a 1992 cap fit well on a 1993 I know they changed body styles thats why I'm asking

The bed rails didn't move.

The internal panels and floor are also unchanged.

isn't the 92 more narrow and squared than the 93 wider and rounded

Don't question the great AD.

Only the outer skins were changed on the bed the cap will fit.

ummm......I went the other way and bought a '93 long bed cap for my '90 and it's a few inch's too wide at the cab but fine at the tailgate, it works but looks a bit goofy, had me scratching my head so I went back and measured the '93 front and back and the box is wider at the front, to match the wider cab I guess and then narrows to the tailgate, I'll measure some gen 3's next wrecker trip, maby I'm suffering from heat stroke.

Allow me to rephrase...

The inboard edge of the rails are in EXACTLY the same place.

However the cab body and bedside profiles are different

So while the caps will fit and function the body lines won't
necissarly be stylistically "complementary" to one another.

I have the same "problem"

I have a recently aquired 1993 and all my caps (I own four at last count)
are for Gen1 or Gen2 Rangers.
