1997 Ford Ranger 2wd 4.0 EC wont start. It cranks over fine. Changed the fuel filter, new fuel pump, no blown fuses that I can tell. Battery has plenty of juice. reset the inertia switch too.

Checked for spark and I think it is not. My dad is telling me crank-fire sensor but how can i be sure, and what are the possible reasons for no spark.?

Thanks for the help, been a long time lurker and finally joined. :icon_cheers:

Do you have any way of checking codes? There are a multitude of possibilities for a crank/no start condition. We need some more specific details. How are you checking for spark?

I used the obd2 code reader and no codes have shown up or come up. checked for spark by using a screwdriver in the spark plug trick, also touched it with the screwdriver thing that lights up and when i cranked the truck over the light never turned on.

You can hook a voltmeter up to the crank sensor and see if it is putting out a signal when you crank the engine. It should show up as AC voltage.
