ok. i have an idea to put lights under the bed rails. not hard, been done before i know. but heres my idea. i want to set up some sort of switch so that when the tailgate is up the lights are off but when its down they turn on. im wondering if i use one of the pressure swtches from a door ajar switch if that would work

In short, it should work.

I was going to do the same thing with mine with a left over hood alarm pressure switch tht came with my remote start, but I found an old regular switch laying around in my boat that was the perfect size for the inside lip of the tailgate.

If you want the leftover switch I have zero plans for it so you can have it (that is if i can find it)

I was going to wire mine up to a switch used for the light(s) in the engine compartment, but I figured if I had long pieces of lumber or a bike sticking out I wouldn't need the light on. So my lights are just wired up to a switch in the cab.

I thought about a switch but it wouldn't want to accidentally leave it on or have something bump into it. I guess I could do a double switch setup. Off and on and then the pressure. Off is off. On allows for switching with the pressure switch
