TRS Logo Use Permission

Ok, I can't find anything anywhere as far as who to directly contact regarding making up some business cards to hand out to RBV owners where I live.

I'd like to do some cards but other than making up some nonsense words in place of the actual logo, what are my options?

I do not want to just copy the logo to these cards without getting the proper yes you can use it reply. TRS has been around for many years and I'm surprised the number of RBV owners who don't have a clue about it.

So, with all that said anyone here have any ideas, or are there already TRS cards out there somewhere I can get a hold of?

You need to get a hold of Jim Oaks, he is the site owner. I don't know of any cards currently.

I don't think there will be any issues if its for promoting the site.

Logos are tricky in terms of copyrights and crap.
I can understand you wanting permission, but for your purpose you honestly don't need it.

I'd still rather get it blessed off by the owner before doing anything.

I remember a while back there was a thread on here somewhere regarding someone using or making another site similar to TRS and was illegally using pictures and other information from TRS.

I want to do it right even if it requires a couple extra steps on my part.

I'm in no way trying to misrepresent TRS or any of its members, I just want to use the Business Cards to promote TRS for those who don't know about it which seems to be pretty common where I live, I mean there are hundreds if not thousands of RBV's in the town I live in and many probably would love this forum.

Saw your PM about the same time I saw this.

All I ask is that the card displays 'TheRangerStation.com' and that it indicates you're a 'forum member' so that you're not confused with a TRS Forum Staff Member.

You are referencing the Instagram account debacle. I believe the issue there is that the person in question with that one is because the account's user name is "The Ranger Station" and the feed contains a number pictures that have been posted here by various users, but makes no mention of or link to the site itself.

I agree though, it would be best to get Jim's OK on the idea before going ahead.

There was also an issue with a former hosting company that tried to launch their own version of TRS with our forum database (that we never got back)....

Here is what I have so far:



If there's anything you would like me to change please let me know. Also, as soon as I get this thing situated the way everyone would like it I would be more than happy to make some up for members who request them with their member name. For a very small fee to cover ink, paper, and mailing supplies. I'll get things situated and figure prices if need be. Or I could also email the template and let members change and print as they wish.

That's a great idea...but not sure if I'd put a picture of my truck on one for a run of any more than, say, 25 cards...it changes that fast...lol

Although it has been about 8 years since I painted it black, to cover the red that didn't go with the brown of the cab or the blue of the hood and front fenders...soon the box will be gray and the front fenders and hood will also be that colour but I will have the whole thing painted a solid colour...

Haha, I just did the picture thing for an idea. Haven't printed any as I realized that I don't have any business card stock right now, so gotta wait till tomorrow and pick some up. Will probably print off a sheet worth which if I remember correctly is about 12 per sheet.

Pretty sure you can stick 16 on a sheet if I remember correctly.

Been a while since I've done business cards on letter sized paper. Most the stuff we do is on 23x35+ size paper Haha.

Printing company as in newspapers, or general printing? Its amazing what you guys can do.
