TRS Event TRS 2025 Ranger Adventure

No no no. Required mods aren't to keep anyone out haha. Just for instance say someone hmmm.... may enter a shallow water crossing to fast and stall their Ranger. They may need some kind of recovery. I mean anything can happen🤷‍♂️

My fan had been slinging water most of the trip, it was bound to happen at some point.

Decades of work literally shut down by one crappy aftermarket distributor connector...

That was just the start of the problem.

It's those hiccups like that which will remind you of trips. Always good when we can fix it and keep moving.

It was an easy fix, on a 40 year old junkyard dog 14hrs from home... if that's the biggest glitch it did pretty good.

I've shared the link on both my Facebook and Instagram accounts. It would be awesome to see a big register for this event. I see all the Jeep and Toyota groups gather. Would be awesome to see a big Ranger showing on the trails.

Is May 1st -5th still the date of this adventure? I was really hoping to go but my wife just told me we had a family event that weekend that I somehow was supposed to have known about. Anyway maybe I’ll get a chance next year.

So, is there going to be one base camp or is this going to be more of an overlanding thing? And is it restricted to only Rangers?

I ask because I won’t have a Ranger ready in time, but the Choptop is a possibility. Trying to load it with 4 days of camping gear and drive it 8+ hours on the highway though… I’d rather load the green Ranger and tow the Choptop to base camp. Choptop does have plates and insurance but it’s not exactly a spacious vehicle. I don’t know if any of this is going to happen, but I’m curious enough to ask and it’s far enough out that I could try making it happen.

Reading Jim's original post, it appears this will be an overlanding style event. He's discouraging trailering to the event. Plus, keep in mind this is on public roads. So it must be a properly registered vehicle with all necessary safety equipment - lights, turn signals, good brakes, windshield, etc.

Other than Cass, WV and Ford Nationals, I'm not sure we're having a base camp type event this year.

That’s kind of what I understood but I was just asking for clarification. My Choptop is roadworthy, just not really a good overlanding rig. Not sure I’d want to drive it 8 hours on a highway either.

It has to be a Ranger.

There is no base camp.

Overlanding style, but I don't consider this overlanding. I really don't want the Ranger Adventure to get labeled as an overlanding event. I don't even consider myself an overlander, just an adventurer.

Anymore when I think of 'Overlanders' I think of trucks with all kinds of expensive equipment that looks like it's on its way to a SEMA show. My truck is built to go off-road, and I carry what I need to camp when I get to where I'm going. Or to camp along the way. I did this for 3-weeks at a time in 2017 and 2019 but didn't have or need a lot of fancy equipment.

Back in the very beginning when I was hosting gatherings in Wellsville Ohio, I had a desire to create an event that was fluid and not stuck in one place. I get tired of going to an off-road park and being stuck in the same small area all of the time. I loved my 2017 and 2019 trips, but I did them alone. I really enjoyed taking a trip last fall with the Vagabonds.

I also enjoyed Curious Hounds scavenger hunts. I had a similar idea back in the Wellsville days when I wanted to come up with a fluid event that took people out across the countryside, not stuck in an off-road park.

The Ranger Adventure is to encourage people to head out on the weekend, explore some remote areas with their Ranger, see some sites, camp, spend quality time with other Ranger owners, and make some new friends.

The point isn't to turn anyone into an 'overlander'.

I've only had (2) people express interest in going on this adventure in May. One person I know expressed an interest in going on Instagram, and another person we know told him it was an 'overlanding' trip, as if it's something he isn't going to want to be a part of.

I'm still trying to put something together. One way or another I'm going camping and off-roading at the end of April - beginning of May. But I want to explore, see new areas, and face new challenges. Not sit at an off-road park and watch people take turns climbing the same obstacle all day.

I’m interested in going… I’m not sure if I can make it to this one.

Well I know that you won't have to make the journey alone haha. If it's 2 or 10 of us we will make it a great adventure. The area has tons to see and so many trails available.
