I had an odd situation with my 2002 ranger with a 3.0 the other day. It was a hot day about 90 deg and I was been driving the truck home making a few stops. After the last stop I noticed that the AC was not working. Within a few minutes of the AC not working the truck started to bogg when attempting to accellerate. Kinda like a bad MAF sensor or low fuel pressure. I got the truck pulled over and turned off the key. Waited a minute and restarted. Truck runs great and no issues for the past 40 miles. I put my OBD2 on it and it will not power up the code reader.

Kinda wonder if my ECU is going out ? Any ideas ? Im going to test my OBD2 on my other truck to see if it works properly.

Thank you.

Well I found fuse 17 blown. It is for the second power port on the dash, and it also provides power to the 16 pin connector for the code reader. No DTC stored. I got no idea why the AC would momentarily stop working while the engine was having a fuel issue that was also momentary. Anyone got any ideas ?

im going to guess that the blown fuse has some connection to another system. otherwise, i have no idea.

fuse has been blown for years. The power port stopped working when I had a new stereo installed long ago. So the blown fuse was only stopping me from checking for codes. Kinda odd that they put the power port and obd2 connector on the same fuse.

If I'm not mistaken I think the AC compressor will turn off if the motor is under a load like on a hard acceleration or going up a hill.
