Trouble startine engine...sorta..

Well I run into this every so often but basically, I'll crank the engine and it starts up then dies right away, so then I just crank it again and then it just stays on, I have a 1987 ranger, just wondering what it could be or if its anything major..if I had to guess...would it be the starter? lol

Sounds like a fuel problem. Change the fuel filter and see if that helps
