Trolled By Ford

One of these days, I'd love to pull statistics from the database of the number of posts you've made that reference your Lightning.
He’s made 602 posts... I’d estimate it at about 598 posts reference his Lightning. :icon_rofl:

Sure, you can criticize me for it. But in this one, I was mainly just referencing the Lightning in general. That even stock, they are a bad-ass ride. But you have to admit, that Lightning Bolt Ranger with the Lightning motor and drive train, would be one hell of a ride. Matter-of-fact, heard the only reason it didn't happen is that Ford thought the truck too uncontrollable and dangerous in the hands of most drivers. They referred to the extremely heavy front end weight bias as being insane.

I'd still love to have one though.

I actually made the recommendation for Ford to bring the lightning back on the new Ford Ranger. Lowered with a 3.5 EcoBoost.

There was a prototype for a Third Generation Lightning brought out. But, Ford chose to do the Raptor instead. ;-(

It’s just friendly ball bustin’... not criticism.

I know it. I'ts cool. I do go on-and-on about my Lightning. But hey, if you had it, I'd expect you to do the same. It's One Hell Of Truck. Although, with the bed carpeted and a hard shell cover over it, it's more like a two seat car with a YUUGGEE trunk.

I understand, I’ve got a Cobra.

Carpeted truck bed?

That is up there with getting salsa made in New York City...

It's a Bedrug. Made to fit insert that happens to be made of some type of carpet that is impervious to fuel, oil and other automotive types of liquid. I never haul anything in this "truck". That's why I have the Ranger. I even deleted and tossed all the towing related hardware on it. Hitch and hitch mount gone. Saves near 100 pounds, although to be fair, taking 100 pounds off the back may not be the brightest thing to do. LMAO!

Bed rug for the bed bugs!

Bed rug for the bed bugs!

They haven't been available for some years, and there are guys at LightningRodder.com begging for one. Really, these days, most of us Lightning Diehards never use them as trucks. I barely put 2000 miles on mine last year. And the only reason I even made that was a 1000 mile round trip to Poplar Bluff Missouri to pick up the custom hood that now graces mine. The guy who did my hood also has a white Lightning, with a Cervinni's hood. Here they are at his country home in Poplar Bluff.

*cough* SRT-10 *cough*

True. But quarter miles times were damn near identical. The SRT-10 may have that V-10, but it weights damn near 1000 pounds more than a Generation 2 Lightning. Many runs made on tracks, it all really depended on how good the driver was as to who won. That debate has long run it's course on LightningRodder.com. One of our members over there has both. And even he admits it's one heavy sumbitch.

Good point.

Always been the problem with Mopar - they're heavy. My SRT8 Challenger is 4200 lbs, and it absolutely feels like it.

Only downfall of the lightning (to me) was the trans - no manual option.
