I know a few of you fellas are running these headers. What model Tri-Y's are you guys using?? I have a set of TP headers that I need to get installed but would like to research the tri-y option before I do. I'll be using them on a rather stoutly built 358W.

We're using the old "Shelby" style tri-y's for the 65-66 Mustangs. Many of the classic Mustang vendors selll these. They're found on ebaymotors as well.

OK...I did a little looking before I asked. I do remember seeing those on eBay motors. How are they to install w/ the motor already in?

With a 302, the left side will actually fall right thru from the top if you don't hold onto it. The right side takes some wiggling to get it in place (working it past the frame rail) But once you've got it in place, it's got plenty of wiggle room to work with. Not sure how they'll work with a 351 decked motor, never tried them with one. If you're handy at metal fab work, I'm sure you could make em fit if tried. That's going to go for all the 302 headers with a 351 in a Ranger too.

I rolled in the upper and lower lips of the frame from the crossmember toward the rear for about 24" and boxed it. This was to make extra room in anticipation of adding headers down the road after the engine was already in. I may get a set just to experiment. Are yours coated? or bare? How are they holding up?

Mine are nickel chromed, bought em used off ebay for $85. Had em for about 6-7 years now. I welded up the tubes around the head flanges to allow porting the openings to better match my Canfield heads. Other than that, I've had to reweld the primary Y joints once (they cracked). Buy another set? You bet, if I needed too.
