I have an 07 XLT 4x4 4.0 with the m5od r1 transmission. Is the transmission the same in 05 and 06? I'm trying to buy one online, none of the junkyards around me have one. Just curious about if there are any year differences.

It's the same thing. Just watch because those transmissions are engine specific. The one you get has to come off another 4.0 or it won't mate up.

I have the 4.0, and I just crawled underneath it to see if it had the extra hole, and it does. The guy I bought if from said that he had the clutch replaced, but the truck has the 4.0 SOHC, with the HD ('missing' trans bolt) so I'm not sure if the truck came with that trans or if someone forgot the bolt or what. Ever since I bought it, its shifted like absolute garbage, so I'm finally breaking down and I'm going to rebuild it. I just wanted to make sure the hd variant will take the non-hd rebuild kit
