i have a 91 ford ranger with a 3.0 and last october my slave cylinder went out so i replaced it and about 3 weeks later my truck started messing up again. I than replaced the master cylinder, the diaphragm, the clutch disk, and the pilot bearing. After replacing everything my problem still wasn't solved so i warrantied the slave cylinder and put another new one in. My truck still wouldn't drive right, i have bled the system so many times and so many different ways now its not even funny. The problem i am having is if i put it in gear before starting the vehicle the clutch works perfectly but as soon as i take it out of gear it will not go into any other gears unless i shut the vehicle off and put it in another gear and start it back up again. If i try to put it into gears 3 or 4 it grinds, im not really sure if that has anything to do with the problem or not. Please anyone help i have put so much time into the ranger and i really don't want to spend a ton of money by putting it into the shop if i don't have too. Also if the vehicle is off i have no problem going into any of the gears.

From what you are describing it sounds like your clutch still needs to be bled. I like to open up the bleeder and let it gravity bleed for a while. Sometimes that works and sometimes it doesn't. When you gravity bleed the system take the cap off the resevoir or it won't bleed correctly/sufficently.

Now....your transmission. Does it make noise in any gear other than 4th? If not then the clutch bleeding is your ploblem. If it does make noise change the fluid in it and go from there. These transmissions take ATF not 80W 90 gear oil.

it grinds in both 3rd and 4th gear and the fluid is brand new in the transmission. i have gravity bled it honestly about 9 times now

I surprised nobody has suggested the clutch master, and would give you similar symptoms.
