transmission slips at high speeds

my transmission slips when i take of hard or when i make a tight turn and try to power out when i say power out i mean step on the gas hard and just today i noticed at 100 mph it will slip and wont let me go any faster can anyone please help with this problem thank you very much

The reason you can't go over 100 mph is not because of your transmission. The speed limiter on the truck won't let it go over 100. What the hell are you doing going over 100 mph anyway?

It would help to know what kind of transmission you have. If you have a manual transmission, my guess is the clutch is failing.

I know this is The Ranger Station, but we don't even know if that's what this cat has. From the sound of it, this dude is loco so anything's possible. My suggestion? Slow the hell down - problem solved! My Ranger is governed to 91, by the way.

well its not that i drive fast geniusus i took it to the drag strip to make sure all of my performance parts were really performing and that comment about killing children relax i have kids of my own but anyway thanks for the answer does anyone know how i can bypass that problem

You haven't told us what year, engine, trans, or any details at all except for an odd range of symptoms that seem to point at more than one problem you're trying to solve.

Ford ranger

it is a 97 3.0 2wd automatic it slips when i power out of turns and when i step on the gas hard it will do it once in a while when im driving on the freeway for no apparent reason

how are you getting a 3.0L in a ranger to 100 mph ...... I had a 3.0L Taurus and it took 3 weeks to get to 100 mph.......

If you got the ol' 3.Slow to 100mph than you've already advanced far past a point I could help you. I don't think I ever got my 3.0 over 85mph! Of course now that i've got a 4.0 its a good thing that all of the vinager has drained out of me and left all the piss! I would have definatly torn up this truck when I was younger.

I can hit 85+ in my '92 3.0 5 speed. I can't see 100 being that hard to get to, assuming you have the right gears. Mine's at 3.73, and my best guess is I've done 90-95 in it. Have you tried changing the ATF in the tranny recently?

so i guess i shouldnt be complaining about not being able to go past 100 mph!!! okay! I recently changed the atf and filter on it. I still want to know why my transmission slips or doesnt grab a gear at all when i try to take off fast and when I power out of turns? It slips on the freeway but not very often when i try to get that extra power out of it, but from what it sounds like this 3.0 really sucks! Well if anyone out there can answer the question that i asked i would appreciate it!!

Sounds like one of 2 things that comes to mind..First off sounds like it could be low on fluid which could cause this.....second that maybe you either didnt put the O rings on the filter or one of the Orings got cut when you put filter back on. Heres away to see if filter or fluid level is the problem....try dumping in another quart of oil and see what happens...When checking oil be sure you on level ground motor running and tranny in park.

There is a filter for an early A4LD that is shallower for the shallower pan also...i hope they gave you the right filter.

My 2002 4.0 will only do 91 as computer limits the speed.
