Transmission retainer ring-pics of issue in reply’s

So my 2000 ford ranger is busting a retainer ring every so often and is becoming a pain to do work on…. Any advice

What is the retaining ring holding in place? It is unclear in the image. Is it one of transmission servos?
And is that bracket that is holding overdrive servo in place when the ring pops out?
