1993 ranger 4x4, 4 liter, 5spd, manual 4wd. Problem is a "chatter" type noise under acceleration (anytime throttle is applied) in any gear at any speed (louder at road speed). Noise seems to emanate from around or below the shifter area. If I let off the throttle and coast, the noise goes away. Other than that, the transmission seems to work fine, shifts smooth and clean, no vibrations, fluid level is good. What could be the problem?

nobody has any idea?

Its hard to say man. You may have to have a friend get under it with a stethescope and probe the transmission and clutch area. Could just be throw out bearing or the clutch disc springs coming apart and if its internal of the trans its most likely a bearing.

Check any heat shields on the exhaust. It's common for a weld to snap..and then you get a chattering rattle that sounds like the whole truck will fly apart.
