Hey guys, Getting really deep into the v8 swap. So far i have swapped the auto to manual, rhino lined the engine bay, Got most of the parts for the engine, I have the motor mounts, carb, intake, air cleaner, valve covers, oil filter relocation, serpentine conversion, all accessorys.

Just getting down to the transmission. I've been planning on a Borg Warner World class T5 Transmission. The ranger is a 1983 2wd LONG BED. What i was wondering was the Transmission mounts? what will i need for that? will it line up with the stock holes on the original holding bracket? Is there something i can order from a different vehicle? Fab something up?

The other thing was the driveshaft. Sense i have a 2wd longbed, im not sure about this. Would a mustang driveshaft work? or the stock one? Or do i need to get one fabricated?:icon_welder:

Thanks guys, Lift

Do the driveshaft last! (You might want to move the engine forward or back a inch or two for some reason.....I had to move my V-8 back 1.5 inches to clear the radiator on my '36...but that was a learn-as-you-go project)

Use the Ranger trans mount. The Mustang style has a wider bolt pattern for the crossmember bolts. The Ranger/T5 trans bolt are the same.

My trans crossmember had to come forward about 1.5", but I have an aftermarket crossmember, so that was simple.

I located the engine/trans by installing my stock driveshaft, so that was simple. Auto/manual Rangers have different length driveshaft (for each bodystyle), and mine WAS a 4.0 5speed, to a 5.0/T5, and worked fine.
