Starting having a problem about a month or so ago. Went to the store and when leaving it had a really slow start as if I was towing something. Well when I gave it a lot of gas to go. It would hang around 2000 rpms and feel as if it released and the rpms would rise and shift into sec. Then shift quickly to 3rd then od. Thought this was weird so I took it to the shop who rebuilt it in March of this year. They said they could feel what I was talking about. Said that I was just feeling the shifting of a new trans. :icon_rofl: I knew better. So I took the guy for a drive and made do what I was talking about. He suggested I leave with them. I agreed. I got a call saying it was the torque converter locking up. And that they had cut the wire. They it could be the com or a sensor or even wiring. So I got it back and went to work. I took apart all the wiring, fixing and repairing all corroded and crack insulation. Replacing connectors as needed. Then I started on sensors. Checked tps, map, temps, vss, and any other load barring sensor. Everything worked as it should. I also had it diagnosed at another shop confirming everything I fine.

To make a long story short:D I went back and forth with the shop. They said bring it back when it gets worse. This is after I put another matching numbers com and fixed there cut wire. Nothing changed it was back to square one.

So last night my brother and I went jackrabbit hunting for shits and giggles. Well towards the end of the hunt this foul nasty odor was coming through the heater vents. With a hint of trans fluid. Popped the hood checked the fluid and it went from dark pinkish to brown color. Then as we were leaving I had it in 4 high. That trans was slipping badly. So I took it out of 4 wheel. And got us home. Checked the fluid again. Still smelt bad and was darker brown with black swirls.

So maybe now the trans shop will see my issue. Lmao. Stupid people make the world go round. Just wanted to let everyone know about this. And thx for all the help transman.

ugh, that's rough man. I'm sure you will but make sure they treat you right on this. I hate dealing with transmission shops. Sometimes, you get one that doesn't cut corners who will set you up with a nice transmission and then some get badly rebuilt and you're on the hook for it.

Dude I know. Today I took it to them and the bastards want to charge me an he of diagnosis time. Which is 74 bucks an hr. I told him the fluid is brown and they acted as if they didn't care. Face, chest, arms, got red. Man I was pissed. Got on the phone with Corp and the owner will be coming up this week to look at it for free. He couldn't believe what I told him. The fact that the cut the wire with no further investigation. Lol I swear my life rocks. Lmao. Thx for posting

Sorry to hear about your trouble! Hope it all works out for you. Just know there are shops and techs out there that still stand behind the repairs and take pride in the work. Not just a paycheck but a passion. i am here if i can help.
Best of luck!

^ totally true. It's good to know there's still good out there. The whole thing sounds unbelievable but it sounds like you're working on getting it all straightened out!

Yeah it's been tough. Waiting til Thursday for the owner to come up from st George. Transman. Correct me if I'm wrong. I adjusted the band's and what I did was torque the main bolt to 10ft lbs and back off 1 1/2 rotations. And then tighten lock nut to 35-45 ft-lbs.

Yes, you are correct on the band adjustments.

Ok. Got the truck back from the shop. They said the torque converter is locking up intermittently. So I'm at a stand still. What could possibly make it lock up intermittently
