Ive been doing alot of research on the transmission aspects for my build..A t5 5 speed tranny ,the shifter goes back kinda far . I want to keep it manual what other tranny's will bolt up to a 302 v8.im putting in a brand new crate engine. I was looking at 1993 ford f150 ZF 5 speed would that be ok or is it to big . I ordered my motor with a 157 tooth fly wheel because it a little smaller. the engine HP is 330 +. I have a 93 2wd extended cab Ranger. My motor will bee coming in in the next 3 or 4 weeks and would like to get a tranny,

Only thing with an f150 engine is the intake is to tall to fit under the hood off a ranger.

The ZF will have the shifter way up under the dash, you want it farther back to come out like a normal Ranger shifter.

It is also huge and was never offered in a F-150.

Besides being on the big, heavy side, the ZF first gear ratio is a 5.72 that makes it great for off-road or towing heavy loads. Several have had to do a body lift or greatly modify the trans tunnel.

T5 Shift position is great with bucket seats on my 93, click my build thread
