New to the forum but have been lurking for quite a while. Need some help with my 1995 Ranger, automatic, 3.0l that spits up tranny fluid after it gets warmed up. So far I have drained & flushed the coolant, replaced the thermostat and done alot of cleaning! Seems to only happen after the second or third time the engine is started with little or no time between engine starts. (Example running into the store or getting gas.) What then happens is smoke from the bottom of the truck. As close as I can tell the smoke is generated from fluid that seems to be coming from the vicinity of where the dipstick tube goes into the transmission and then drips on the exhaust pipe. The fluid is topped up between each of these occurances and simply driving it any distance then shuting down, allowing to cool down to ambient, then driving again results in no problem. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated! I had a similar issue many years ago with a GM product which was caused by a clogged vent but haven't found the tranny vent on my Ranger. Thanks in advance!

This afternoon I wiped down the tranny fluid, serviced it and made sure the vent on the transmission was working. Took it off the ramps and drove it about 50 ft to park on the street and fluid was trailing it. So I pulled back up on the ramps and found that the only drops were coming from the bottom of the bell housing. Anyone heard of a torque converter leaking?
