My 1992 Ford Ranger 2.9 with a Mitsubishi FM 146 is going out for the second time, can a M5OD 5 speed fit in it's place as a direct bolt in. I am unable to find any thread about this. I want to upgrade eventually to a 302 just can't afford to at this time and I hate to rebuild this FM 146 just to have change transmissions with the 302 change. Hope someone can help.
Thanks. Coastie1952

Going to have to swap transmissions with a sbf, no matter what. For one thing, the M5OD-R1 is integral bellhousing (one piece). For another, you don't want a light duty transmission behind a v8. It's best to use a v8 transmission (like a M5OD-R2).
