My credo
the grey-t escape
ever tried to remove those stickers from the drivers door? it would be nice to have the right sticker, my "good" door that i plan to put on is from a V6 automatic truck, none of the information on its door tag would pertain to the truck im driving now, ive already started a "build sheet" notebook, since ive now got a 98 rear axle and i plan on changing the front knuckles/brakes to the ones off the 97. at the junkyard when i was sourcing a 4.10 axle i noticed some rangers had them on the door jamb rather than the door, i could always try that if i can get my original tag off, then i could just sand down or paint over the sticker on the replacement door.

I'm sure there's a way, but just be careful of doing that. There I believe there is a VIN # on that, and even though it would be to technically make the vehicle correct in some places it's a little grey side depending on who sees it. Like an inspector or if someone peed in a cop's Wheaties that morning.

yes, vin # is also on tag, id be keeping the tag that came with the chassis and transfering it to the replacement door. the tag on the dash is still there and correct. i suppose if nothing else just have no drivers door label at all, its a 94 and from what i can tell by title searching it, its been through 5 owners, any of which could have changed the door (thats the story id tell anyways)

if you are scrapping the original doors, take a dremel/ tin snips and cut the tag out of the door. pound it flat and feather the edges and glue the metal to the new doors.

thats a idea.... yes original drivers door will be scrapped, its dented on the outside by the front edge and most of the bottom of the door is rusted out. passenger door is ok, which is good because the right side door from the 97 parts donor was badly damaged when it rolled.

If you do this and rivet it over the other Door tag, the one underneath is still accessible if you ever need to prove anything...

I wouldn't worry about this. Doors are an easily removed/replaced component. Generally a VIN on a sticker or on a replaceable piece isn't considered "gospel". It's stamped and/or riveted tags that need to be worried about.

Contact the dealer I believe that they can get a reprint of the original sticker....
